Root & Cady
The firm of Root & Cady was established in 1851 by Ebenezer Towner Root (born Scheffield, MA, died Chicago) and Chaunch M. Cady, as Music Publishers. They did not make, but sold brass and woodwind instruments under their own name. The company dissolved under the name of Root & Cady in 1872, as a direct result of the great Chicago fire, and in 1874 was re-organized as George F. Root and Sons. The company ceased operation around 1905. |
